Although not readily apparent to the user, we have completed a major upgrade to the mail delivery system, in which we have centralized the code base that creates all the daily emails and online reader options. This is an effort to help us to maintain more consistent delivery options and make it easier to implement future enhancements. In conjuction with this, we have revamped the email delivery system to automatically detect and provide emails in either html or basic text, which will hopefully provide more stable and consistent mail delivery options to a wider range of users.

New Features

I just finished adding a new feature to the site that I think is pretty cool. All progress bars when clicked, will open an information window that displays additional reading schedule statistics. Just click on any progress bar to use this cool new feature.

I just completed another weekend of making some significant changes to the site. The most obvious change is the re-designed layout of the site. I moved the website over to a wider format since less than 6% of our users are using a monitor resolution less than 1000 anyways. This will hopefully provide better use of the screen space for everyone. In making the changes I decided to use CSS(Cascading Style Sheets) exclusively for this, which meant that every page in the site required converting. This ended up being very tedious, and I was immediately reminded why I had put it off for so long.

In addition to the layout changes I also changed the navigation and login process (hopefully for the better?).  Now everyone can login from any page and get to their journal, notes, settings, account, and teams with one click.

As is usually the case I ended up adding more to the “To Do” list than I was able to check off. I’m really glad though to have this change done as I can feel better about moving on to more interesting projects from here on.

As a side note, we also submitted an official request for permissions to get additional languages, chapter heading, and footnotes for the LDS scriptures. We should get a response in a couple weeks.

New Features
 Wednesday, September 26, 2007

The schedule advance or reverse feature is now done! You can manually change the position of your reading schedules in the online reader. We have had many requests for this feature since we started this program, and it is finally here. Many of you will find this feature useful as you complete your scripture reading using other methods and want to advance your schedule to the correct position without having to click on the complete button multiple times for each completed day. In addition it is also possible to reverse your position to a previous day in case you missed one.

This new feature allows you to select the amount you would like to increase or decrease your schedule by from the drop down list. You can advance or reverse your schedule by increments of -10 to +10. Once you have selected the amount just click on the "Go" button to confirm and apply your changes. You can also click repeatedly on the "Go" button to advance or reverse your schedule with the selected amount.
