News and Updates RSS 2.0

I just completed another weekend of making some significant changes to the site. The most obvious change is the re-designed layout of the site. I moved the website over to a wider format since less than 6% of our users are using a monitor resolution less than 1000 anyways. This will hopefully provide better use of the screen space for everyone. In making the changes I decided to use CSS(Cascading Style Sheets) exclusively for this, which meant that every page in the site required converting. This ended up being very tedious, and I was immediately reminded why I had put it off for so long.

In addition to the layout changes I also changed the navigation and login process (hopefully for the better?).  Now everyone can login from any page and get to their journal, notes, settings, account, and teams with one click.

As is usually the case I ended up adding more to the “To Do” list than I was able to check off. I’m really glad though to have this change done as I can feel better about moving on to more interesting projects from here on.

As a side note, we also submitted an official request for permissions to get additional languages, chapter heading, and footnotes for the LDS scriptures. We should get a response in a couple weeks.
